I can't even begin to tell you how much it meant to me to photograph this wedding. Ni and I go back years and years. She was the university house mate who would stay up all night with me helping me choose prints to be critiqued the next morning. She was the girl who sent a text over 11 years ago from my phone to Nigel, the boy I liked and invited him over for dinner - now my business partner, husband and the love of my life. Ni was a bridesmaid at our own wedding almost 9 years ago who saved the day by fixing the family heirloom necklace that broke just before I was due to leave, she even had a large part to play in helping us name our business. She has been the friend that even when we are at our busiest and free time doesn't exist she has understood and been there for us regardless. Friends like this do not come along often.
Ni and Kev became a couple during our uni days, Ni a bar maid in an Ashbrook Rugby club, and Kev the coach and referee of the team. I remember meeting Kev for the first time all those years ago and seeing how happy he made my best mate. I couldn't have been more thrilled for them, however after over 10 years together I was beginning to lose hope that they would ever get married. Kev took us all by surprise and popped the question at the romantic Hilton castle in Sunderland in 2014.
Humble, kind and warm hearted, my lovey friend Ni married her best friend and soul mate Kev in an intimate wedding ceremony at the Lothian Chambers in Edinburgh heading over to the Dome for an afternoon wedding breakfast with their closest family and friends. It was a privilege to be counted amongst that number and to capture their wonderful wedding day.
